Biography

Residing in the historic village of Burkittsville, MD, Jayme has a studio and gallery on the square
corner of the town. She opens her studio and gallery to the public on weekends and for special
events. There she has a full metalsmithing workshop where she uses traditional and modern
methods to handcraft one-of-a-kind artisan jewelry.
Jayme began exploring metalsmithing in college and continued her pursuit through the
Maryland Institute College of Art Jewelry Certificate program that she completed in 2001. She
continues to take workshops to hone her craft and stay connected to the metalsmithing
community. She recently joined the Valley Craft Network, an association of artists living and
working in the Middletown Valley area of Maryland that hosts the state’s oldest studio tour
spanning 45 years.
Jayme recently retired from four decades of working at the local, state, and federal levels
developing, managing, and evaluating behavioral health programs. Throughout her career she
relied on art to inspire and ground her. She has explored various modalities, but her love of
metalsmithing has always been her passion and path of expression.
Jayme holds a B.S. in Education and a M.S. in Counseling Psychology from the Florida State
University.
